School... Wha?!

Dear Friends,
I have some explaining to do...
I've been putting it off.

It's all right and I'm good with it (really good, actually).
It's just complicated.

We sent our middle child to the local school for kindergarten.
(gasp)
I know.

When it came to homeschooling, I thought we were lifers.
But we weren't.
It wasn't working.
And we all knew it.

So we changed it up.
We tried something new.

And we love it.
Most days.

Love,

  2. ohhh...what a doll! T-boy looks so big and proud. And a whole lot like his Daddy. Kudos to you for doing what's best for each individual child!! Public school has been great for Jacob too - he's thriving and that makes a Momma very, very happy! You're an awesome Mom doing what's best for each of your little chicks - can't ask for any more that that.

  5. It's wonderful that you recognize and acknowledge the needs of each individual child, and do what's best in any given situation. This for now, but homeschooling again may be in his future, and I'm sure you'll be aware of that need if it arises. (Those dimples are toooo much--what a cutie!!)

  6. LOVE your honesty. I think you are one smart momma for knowing just what each one of your kids need. I like what someone told me once, "We don't treat all our kids equally, but we DO treat them all fairly." Does that make sense to you? It does to me.

  7. What a good example of doing what is best for you and your family. I struggle with how to do the same thing for each child, but I love what Darcie commented about equality vs. fairness. Kiddos are different and have different needs. Anxious to hear how things go! :)

  8. I love it when we can do what works instead of getting stuck in the mud of how we want it to be. Flexibility can be the best learning exercise of all... especially for parents.

  9. I'm glad for all the nice and helpful comments you (and all of us reading this) got from others! By the way, your boy is darling and looks so happy! I, too, think that it's good to do what's best for each child (or parent----I could've never home schooled for lack of patience, being on a livestock farm etc). One thing that I heard someone say was that "our schools need our little lights", so even if it's not for every child, you can think of who your child may influence in a good way! I remember sending our first child off on the bus----my husband and me standing at the door with tears streaming down our faces, and my husband said, "the wolves have come to get our 'baby' ". Well, in a way that is so, but with prayer and trying to do one's best as a parent, good things can come of it. All in all, it's good to see you evaluating each child's needs!
