Dear Friends
When I was growing up my mother would recite a little nursery ditty that went something like this:
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.
There was something enchanting to my little heart in the idea of knowing something of one's character according to the day of the week of one's birth. Of course, it was really just for fun... but I liked it and I'm pretty sure this had nothing to do with knowing I was 'Monday's child'.
[hee-hee]
In fact, I think I thought I was born on a Wednesday.

Baby Joseph was born on a Sunday.
He is such a blessing to his family and all that love him.
Time will tell if he is also bonny and good.
But my honorary-auntie heart says of course he will be!
We went over to see him the next day and took him a birth-day cake. It was a celebration of life. A celebration of family. And a celebration of his sweet, tiny self.
It felt so right to celebrate.
But there too was the feeling of missing his precious older sister who he will never meet in this life. Rebecca would have loved him. She would have spoke with her special little brand of red-haired vigor about the 'audacity' of another little brother.
But she would have loved him like no other.
We definitely love him.
We can't get enough of watching him sleep or admiring his little feet.
Jacob and Julia came to see us last weekend so we got to be together for his first Sunday fellowship meeting.
It seemed so fitting to be focused on a precious son on a Sunday.

Dear Joseph,
May these feet carry you in the light of love and skip you blithely through many a mud puddle. May they lead you to Heavenly joy and march you in games of buried treasure. May each of your Sundays be a reason to give thanks and a time of soul-rest long after you have learned to sit still. May the sun shine bright on your bonny head and goodness of God be a beacon to you forever.
Love,
Auntie Raimie

Can you tell we have baby on the brain around here?
Our baby is due on a Friday.
Loving and giving sounds good to me.
Love,
Sharing the Joy NE
P.S. If you are curious about the day of the week to which you belong, you can visit this website, type in your birthdate (yes, the year too - but no-one is looking, promise) and it will tell you what day of the week that was.
Do you think the poem was right about you? or were you 'adopted' from another day?
I tried it on on my parents, husband, siblings and, I confess, my own children.... because let's face it, half the time I can't remember yesterday's date, let alone what day I was having contractions 7 years ago!
I do remember the contractions.
Just for fun, I looked up my day. I am a Saturday's child. Sigh, that is my problem I guess, I don't work hard enough. I also found THIS there...A person born on this day will be 48 years old today. If that same person saved a Quarter every day starting at age 6, then by now that person has accumulated $3,922.25 today. (Assuming this person is still alive and kicking). Goodness, I hope most people at 48 are still alive and kicking.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw this post, for a second I thought you'd had your baby! I am Sunday's child too, I'm really happy that i am :-)
ReplyDeleteI remembered that I am a Friday's child and that Corle' is too. Baylen is a Tuesday, Adair a Wednesday and Delys a Thursday. I looked up Russ and he is a Thursday baby. The funny thing (to me)about the poem and its label for my birth day of the week is the contrasting label assignment given to someone born under my sign/in that year in Chinese astrology is Dragon, with the element Fire! :D I don't of course take these things 100% seriously, but they are entertaining/interesting to think about anyway. :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I am sure baby Joseph is definitely a bonny blessing, especially at this time ... a joy to balance the weight of the sorrow as it were, perhaps.
I am a Sunday child. Don't know what Floyd is but our kids in order of age are born Lyrah on Sat, Jaith on Sunday, and Delon on a Monday.
ReplyDeleteHmm Floyd was born on a Tues. Thanks for sharing pictures of sweet baby Joseph.
ReplyDeleteDearest "Fair of Face" Niece,
ReplyDeleteMy mom also liked to quote that poem. I have always known I was born on Wednesday. (The only one of my mother's children to be a Wed. birth) I was pleased when both my girls were born on Sunday morning. Nathan however, shares my Wednesday woes!
That little poem is in a Golden Book that Gma Ruth used to read us. I was thinking about her, and how she used to say "Oh, woe is me!" Do you suppose she was a Wednesday child? ha
Hugs and love to the newest Sunday Child.
